For our Founder, Lisa Marie Godfrey there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation.
Her passion has always been for this industry. After completing her Food Science degree, she worked in Permanent and Interim QA and Technical Management roles in Food Manufacturing and Retail.
After years of struggling to hire the right people using direct recruitment and generalist agencies, it became clear that there could be a more streamlined way of doing things.
This set her on a path to set up Jarvis Johnson in 1999, where Technical, QA and Development roles are given the focus they deserve and are not simply an add-on!

When Jarvis Johnson was set up in 1999 there were virtually no other agencies specialising in Food Manufacturing. We were able to make an impact really quickly as we were offering a pioneering service quickly sourcing Technical and NPD Interims to support Food Manufacturers with audit preparation – there was a great demand for this as BRC Global Food Standard Issue 1 had come out in 1998!
Fast forward to 2026 and the landscape is completely different. Our services now encompass supporting both permanent and interim candidate placement. These days there are more recruitment agencies active in the Food Manufacturing space but as you will see if you have a quick scroll through other agency websites, we are STILL the only recruitment agency whose focus is solely on Technical, QA and Development.

We are not the biggest agency around.
